HOW TO STAY MOTIVATED TO WORKOUT DURING THE PANDEMIC

THE WORLD IS IN THE MIDST OF A PANDEMIC, SO YOU MAY FIND YOURSELF FEELING LIKE ALL YOUR ENERGY HAS BEEN DRAINED AND THAT EXERCISING FEELS IMPOSSIBLE.
THE CORONAVIRUS CONTINUES TO RAVAGE MANY PARTS OF THE WORLD AT THIS TIME, WHICH MEANS IT CAN BE HARD FOR PEOPLE WHO ARE AFFECTED BY IT TO MAINTAIN THEIR REGULAR WORKOUT ROUTINES OR STAY MOTIVATED ENOUGH TO EXERCISE AT ALL.

Exercising is no easy feat, and even more so with the new restrictions and changes from the pandemic. Exercise and health is more important now than ever.

“A regular routine is important,” says personal trainer and fitness expert Marc Dern. “Especially when most of our schedules are busier since the pandemic. Finding the time and proper balance is extremely important. Remember, self care isn’t selfish, it’s responsible”.

“Weeks can easily flow into weekends,” he continues with an ominous tone in his voice “which means it’s all too easy to get distracted between work, family and friends, weddings, birthdays and household chores/projects”.

“A good option is to write down a daily achievable plan on exactly what to do with a block of time”, continues Dern “Work hard now to enhance your quality of life and its longevity”.

Home gyms are a great way to stay in shape on the go, and they’re also an inspiring place for people who need some motivation.

“Many of our members have actually retained their home gyms with us despite the new changes. They’ve found the convenience of the their home gyms more valuable. After all, it is catered to their fitness needs and saves time in travel”. says Marc’s wife, Meghan Dern

SETTING GOALS FOR YOUR WORKOUT ROUTINE

If you enjoy reading novels or watching movies then maybe make some plans to read for one hour per day or watch an hour of TV every day after your workout. Make sure they are realistic goals though! You want to be set up for success from the start instead of setting up for disappointment down the road because you were not able to stay fully committed.

We all need a little routine and consistency to regain some sanity. Make sure you get in your regular morning routine, from showering to getting dressed for work or school to working out. You won’t regret it!

The most important things in life are not the material goods we have, but what is happening internally. Starting off our days on the right foot can drastically change how we feel about ourselves as well as give us more energy throughout whatever task it may be that awaits us for each day.

INVITE FRIEND OR FAMILY TO WORKOUT WITH YOU

Just because many of us are in self-isolation doesn’t mean we can’t be social with one another. If you would rather not exercise on your own, having some friends or family members join in could help give you a boost and make the time go by faster!

It’s always so much easier to stick to a workout plan, get into the zone and stay motivated if you have friends or family join in with you. You don’t even need them physically there for it! Make plans with your buddies over FaceTime (or whatever video chat program) on Sundays after church — that way everyone can enjoy their Sundays without feeling guilty about skipping workouts.

THE CONCLUSION – HOW TO STAY MOTIVATED TO WORKOUT DURING THE PANDEMIC

When we exercise, our body releases endorphins that make us feel good. These are natural chemicals that act as an antidepressant in your brain. During these trying times, it is important to consistently release these endorphins.
