Keep reading to learn how to get the most out of summer by staying cool with these indoor exercises for summer.
Keep it Simple
Summer heat can make it tough to stick to your workout routine. But don’t let the warmer weather stop you from staying active. You can do plenty of indoor exercises to keep cool while still getting a great workout. You might not be able to run outside, but running in place, jumping jacks, and high knees will keep you moving and burning calories at home.
More Indoor Exercises to Consider
Even though it’s incredibly nice outside this season, there are still plenty of other indoor exercises to consider to avoid exposure to the extreme heat.
- Sit-ups: Sit-ups are a great way to work on your core and can be done anywhere. You can do them in front of the TV, at your desk, or even in bed.
- Low squats: These work your lower body, and since they are low to the ground, they won’t make you too sweaty. Start with your feet shoulder-width apart and squat down until your thighs are parallel to the floor.
- Plank holds: Start in a push-up position, but rest on your forearms instead of your hands. Keep your body in a straight line from head to heels, and hold this position for as long as you can.
- Arm circles and leg extensions: For arm circles, stand with your feet shoulder-width apart and your arms extended out to the sides at shoulder height. Slowly rotate your arms in a circular motion forward, then reverse the direction and turn them backward. Repeat ten times. Next, do leg extensions by standing on one foot and extending the other foot out behind you as you squat down. Push back up to the starting position and repeat ten times on each side.
Invest in Home Gym Equipment
Commit to your health and fitness this summer by investing in home gym equipment. Treadmills, stationary bikes, and rowing machines are all great options for cardio workouts. For strength training, consider a weight bench and some free weights. You can avoid the heat by working out at home and still get in a great workout.
